Stay Warm, Stay Fit at BEBOP Studio in Saguache
If you’re resolved to get fit and/or stay fit in 2016, you needn’t worry about braving the cold or the wind– which, in fact, can be detrimental to your health. Not to mention the risk of slipping on the ice, particularly for older folks.
The BEBOP Studio, at 317 San Juan right next door to the bank, offers a variety of free exercise and dance classes, and free use of comfortable, indoor exercise space. You’re welcome to use their weights, mats, stretch bands and assorted gear, or to work out on the treadmill or exercise bike. A wide assortment of exercise videos also are available for public use.
Regular classes include WOW (Workout for Women, now in its 7th year) at 4:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and 9:30 a.m. Fridays, Gently Yoga with Cynthia Nielsen at noon on Thursdays, and chair exercise for seniors or the disabled offered by the Saguache County Department of Public Health at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays.
Hula classes with Caroline Irwin and martial arts workouts with Tom Reynolds are offered on a regular basis at various times. Call Caroline at 719-850-0051 for a current class schedule.
The BEFit program, a nonprofit project of Saguache Works, has operated for three years with generous support from the Saguache County Commissioners. Due to budget constraints, and multiple needs around the county, this year’s funding has been significantly reduced.
Saguache Works, nevertheless, remains committed to providing these services free of charge. They will, however, be seeking donations from those who can afford to help support our instructors and to defray the cost of space and materials.
