Saguache News – November 20
What’s New With Orient Land Trust
It’s the week of Thanksgiving with all efforts focused on the big feast planned for this Thursday, Nov. 23. So if your recipe lists include pumpkin, then consider getting one fresh from the garden at the historic Everson Ranch, located at the foot of the Sangre de Cristos Mountains in the San Luis Valley .
Owned by the Orient Land Trust (OLT), their Fall Newsletter includes the good news that there are still plenty of pumpkins from the garden available for purchase. Only $2 each! Wow, you can’t beat that price! In addition, a variety of yummy pumpkin foods including baked goods and hummus are available in the welcome center.
Attention soakers, while the good news is that the San Luis Valley offers several options for hot springs and pools, the bad news is that one of them will be closed for a month! Just as they have done for many years, the OLT will be closing its Valley View Hot Springs for four weeks: December 1 – 28.
Readers should note that during this hiatus the OLT plans on implementing a new database and reservation system. Therefore, they will not be answering the phones from December 4 – 11. Guests have been asked not to call during that week and to wait until after December 11 to make reservations.
The popular soaking spot for valley residents and visitors will re-open on December 29, just in time for the New Year!
For folks living in Saguache Today who miss seeing Massage Therapist and Yoga Instructor Cynthia Nielsen, you can find her at the historic Everson Ranch, still doing what she does best – bodywork!
“It has been an exciting summer for bodyworkers and the tipi offers a calm relaxation,” stated Nielsen in the OLT Fall Newsletter, adding, “ As the weather cools, we will offer sessions in the small Amish Cabin.
Their team of dedicated therapists offers a variety of therapies, including various massage techniques, aquatic therapy and reflexology. You will find details on the OLT website, or contact Cynthia directly at: OLT Bodywork Coordinator, CynthiaNielsen@olt.org , 719-298-0360
