Coats, Blankets Needed for Saguache Advocates
Chance are you’ve got at least one way in the back of the closet that hasn’t been touched in years. Or maybe you’ve got one wrapped under the tree as a present and the gently worn one can be donated to someone else who could really use it.
The Saguache County Victim’s Advocacy Program (SCVAP) is soliciting for donations for their Coat and Blanket drive. While the fall season has been mild, winter and all its cold and snow will reach the San Luis Valley. To that end, SCVAP is helping Saguache County residents prepare for those months by providing winter wear and snuggly blankets to help them keep warm.
This week, their efforts are in the collection phase of the project. Then on Saturday, Dec. 16 the group will distribute these items at the Saguache County Road and Bridge Conference room from 1 – 3 p.m. So whether you’ll be giving are receiving, please assist the Saguache County Victim’s Advocacy Program in their efforts to help everyone stay warm this winter.
The SCVAP is accepting coats and blankets of all sizes. If you have something to give please drop it in the collection boxes located at the Post Office, the Oasis Restaurant, Saguache Town Hall, and the Library. There are also special bags for collection located at the Blue Earth Thrift & Mercantile store in downtown Saguache.
